No. Files travel directly between the two browsers over an encrypted peer-to-peer connection. They never pass through QikDrive’s servers.

Devices sharing the same public IP address (typically true for devices on the same home or office Wi-Fi) automatically see each other. If auto-discovery doesn’t find a device, generate a code or QR on one device and enter it on the other to connect directly instead.

There is no size limit tied to a plan. Very large files depend on both devices’ available memory and connection quality.

Does this work across different networks?

Yes, using the code or QR pairing option. Automatic discovery only works for devices sharing the same network; the code/QR option works regardless of network, as long as a direct connection can be established.

Is it safe to accept a transfer request?

Accepted Answer

Only accept a transfer from someone you know and expect a file from. Nearby devices are grouped by shared network, not verified identity, so treat requests the same way you would an unexpected file from a stranger.
